Anwar Ibrahim is a politician and intellectual with a deep focus on Islam, democracy, reform, justice, and the uplifting of the poor and disadvantaged. Currently he serves as the Leader of the Opposition in Malaysia’s Parliament, is the Chairman Emeritus of the International Institute for Islamic Thought (IIIT), and is the Chairman of the Center for Islam in the Contemporary World (CICW) at Shenandoah University. He was also selected as the chairman of the Development Committee of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 1998. Ibrahim has previously served as Malaysia’s Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister. In his struggle for justice and reform in Malaysia he has served over two decades collectively in prison. Ibrahim has also held teaching positions at Oxford University, Johns Hopkins University, and Georgetown University.
