After graduating from the London School of Economics with a law degree and being called to the Bar in both the United Kingdom and Malaysia, Chin Huat studied History of Art at the British Institute of Florence. He later moved into journalism, becoming the first Chinese member of the editorial team at Hong Kong Tatler as its Social Editor, and subsequently wrote as a columnist for the South China Morning Post.
He went on to found a PR consultancy specializing in fashion and luxury brands, working across media, fashion, and television. He has served as a judge for international pageants, including Miss Asia in Hong Kong, Miss Charm de Chine in Shanghai, and Mrs. International Global Grand Final in Kuala Lumpur. As a freelance writer, stylist, and TV host, he has contributed to publications such as The Star, Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Condé Nast Traveller, and Design Anthology, and has hosted television programmes in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
He lives in Malaysia and writes fiction exploring contemporary society, identity, class, and the performances of modern life.
